Although considering the pandemic a total surprise would denote innocence and irresponsibility on the part of humanity, we can say that its arrival was not scheduled on any calendar. Much less in the programming of the twelfth edition of the Mercosur Biennial whose inauguration was getting closer every day.

The proposal of Feminine (s). As its general curator Andrea Giunta explains, visions, actions and affections seek to generate an area of ??exchanges that allow the richness of democratic life to be confirmed without avoiding its complexity. The title of the Biennale is nourished by the most critical tension of contemporary democracy, namely, the participation of society understood from its multiplicity, avoiding the logic of exclusion. The challenge is to build a space for collective celebration from which to critically imagine the new outlines of citizenship.
From this perspective, the 12th Mercosul Biennial renews its urgency in the context of a pandemic. The trends in the political efforts of the epidemic, the stalking of mechanisms such as biovigilance and cyber-authoritarianism, presage times of digital control and de-collectivization. Today more than ever we must meet consciously and actively to delineate these new contours defined by multiple voices.
The curatorial team and the production team of Femenino (s). Visualities, actions and affections have made a memorable effort supporting the possibility of this dialogue in the context of the global health crisis, transferring its existence to the digital sphere in a dynamic and complete way.
We appreciate the valuable invitation of the 12th Mercosul Biennial to continue reflecting and building our immediate future.
